Every channel crops differently. If you upload one size everywhere, something important gets cut. Here are the sizes that matter and why.

Online stores

  • Shopify, Salla, Zid: square 2048 x 2048 px is the safe default. Square keeps collection grids tidy and gives shoppers room to zoom.
  • Ready to try it on your own products?

  • Amazon and Noon: the longest side should reach at least 2000 px, with the product filling roughly 85% of the frame on a pure white background.
  • File size: keep each image under about 500 KB after export. Large files slow your product page, and page speed affects both ranking and conversion.
  • Social

    • Instagram feed: 1080 x 1350 px (4:5) uses the most vertical space allowed.
    • Reels, TikTok, Stories: 1080 x 1920 px (9:16). Keep text and your product away from the top and bottom 15% where the interface sits.
    • Facebook and Instagram ads: supply both 1:1 and 4:5 so the platform stops cropping for you.
    • Website banners

16:9 at 1920 x 1080 px for desktop hero sections. Always provide a separate square or vertical crop for mobile instead of letting one wide banner shrink.

      Padding and placement

Leave a consistent margin — around 6% to 10% of the shorter side — between the product and the frame edge. Consistent padding makes a collection page look designed. Centre the product on the horizontal axis, and keep its visual weight slightly above centre vertically.

      Format

Use JPEG for photos on a solid background and PNG only when you need transparency. WebP is smaller and widely supported; most storefronts convert automatically on upload.

      One workflow

      1. Produce or shoot a single high-resolution master image, ideally square at 2048 px or larger.
      2. Remove the background if you want to place the product on different colours later.
      3. Resize to each channel's aspect ratio with consistent padding rather than cropping by hand.
      4. Export, keeping a clear naming pattern such as sku-front-1x1.jpg.
      5. A browser-based resizer handles steps 3 and 4 in seconds, with no upload and no subscription — the master image stays on your device.
